Since the month of July in 2003 we have a new option in order to get to Beget. It is a matter of the old forest trail of Oix, which is now paved. This new communication road gives any vehicle the opportunity of acceding to the centre of Garrotxa.
Castellfollit - Oix - Beget
From Castellfollit de la Roca we can take the road that will lead us to Oix. Right at the entrance of the village, well indicated, our way begins. Always following the paved road pronouncedly upwards, we will be able to achieve the maximum elevation of our trip in just a few minutes.
At this point we will enjoy an authentic panoramic view. First, when it is still sunny, we will be able to see the most northern part of the transversal Serralada and if the day is clear, we will even be able to see the Massif of the Montseny. In the East we have l’Empordà and the Mediterranean Sea. At night it is easy to see the light tower of the Medes Islands. When we cross the Collet de Pera, now on the northern side, we will be able to observe the summits like the Comanegre, the Pic de les Bruixes, Montfalgàs, Costabona, Bastiments…
From now on we will lose height and will wind around the mountain until we reach the depth of the valley. Going along the stream we will arrive at the heart of Beget.
Camprodon - Rocabruna - Beget
If we leave Camprodon in the direction of Molló and France, two kilometers away from the village we will find a crossing that will take us to Beget. The road, narrow, will take us to the Coll de la Boixeda (at a height of 1,100 meters), the highest point of our trip, where we will enjoy an excellent view of the most eastern summits of the region of el Ripollès.
As of this point, our descent will begin, whereby we will be accompanied by the flowing water of the Fluvià River. We will cross the center of Rocabruna, where the medieval castle, a dominant fortification during the feudal period, which is now in ruins, should be pointed out.
The last part of the trip takes place along the lowest part of the valley and in the middle of well populated forests of holm oak trees and oak trees. Suddenly, and after a very sharp curve, we will arrive at the village of Beget.
